Pie Tasting was so much fun. Most kids cleaned their plate, that almost never happens! I had to laugh when one child asked if they could vote for whipped cream as their favorite!

Room 33 is thankful for so many things. We made thankful pumpkins and spent time sharing and writing what we are thankful for. Mrs. Ross and I are thankful for our amazing class!
Jack's mom kicked of our holiday season by reading "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss. The class really enjoyed her story telling! It really got us in the holiday spirit.:-)
One of our favorite things to do is meet with our fifth grade buddies from Mrs. Clock's class. Today was our first meeting and within five minutes you could hear the sounds of laughter and see the smiles as the kids got to know each other. Our buddies will be a big part of our Writer's Workshop program.
Room 33 loves to have guest visitors come to our room to read! This week we were so excited to have Sofia's grandma come to our room to read a book all about Queen Elizabeth. It was so much fun! Thank you for taking the time to come visit us and for the yummy treats!
Our grass grew and grew until it was finally time to "mow" our grass! The kids had a great time giving their grass a trim and then looking through the soil to see how the roots had grown. We discussed how the intertwining of the roots helps hold the grass in place. I had so much fun watching them understand how all the parts of a plant work together to help a plant grow!
This week please be on the lookout for information regarding Red Ribbon Week. Don't forget that tomorrow is your last chance for Fall Festival pre-sale tickets!
Thank you to the PTA for the assembly we had last week about the character traits. Jimmy even got to be a part of the show and did a great job being a binder! The kids enjoyed the songs and the lessons about being the best you can be!
Why? Because we can use candy corn and then eat them! We began our unit on addition strategies and used candy corn to come up with our own ways of grouping numbers and telling a story to go with it. There were lots of smiling faces in our class that day!
We are having so much fun learning about plants. We have done three hands on experiments in the past two weeks that have the kids really excited. First, we planted grass seeds. The first thing the kids do every morning is check to see how tall their plant has gotten. They are very excited to give their grass a haircut next week! We also studied the importance of the stem by using white carnations and food coloring to show how the water travels up to the parts of the flower. We now have some very pretty blue and pink shaded carnations! Finally, we soaked and then dissected lima bean seeds. The kids really enjoyed using magnifying glasses to see the tiny root and leaf inside the seed. It's been a great couple of weeks in science!
